How does the SpeedPhone service function?

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

When you sign-up for Speedphone service you may choose to be given a phone number from any one of the following regions regardless of your actual location of residence.

Thanks to our Superzones, outgoing calls are unnaffected by the regional code of the phone number you choose, however it does affect incoming calls as anyone calling you will need to pay any long distance fees for calling to the locality of the number you chose. Effectively all clients of Electronic Box who are using the Speedphone service will always have unlimited calling between each-other as it will always be considered local. It is possible to have more than one registered phone number for a same Speedphone account for a mere $4.95/month per additional number to be registered, offering more possibilities for people to call you locally.

Since the Speedphone service is a digital telephony service, in other words Voice over IP (VoIP), it is possible for subscribers to use this service from anywhere in the world. All you need is an internet connection and a way to connect to your Speedphone account; once connected you will be reacheable at the same number as usual as well as capable of making outgoing calls normally.

Required Hardware?

Other than an internet connection some hardware may be needed in order to take advantage of your Speedphone service. Electronic Box strongly suggests for clients to obtain or rent one of our VoIP adaptors. For more information on the hardware we have available please consult our Hardware section. It is still possible to use the Speedphone services without having a VoIP adaptor if you have a computer with a microphone and headphones attached, installation of one of freeware such as "X-lite" can easilly allow you to use your computer as a telephone.
